FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Texas Country Music Awards Names KRXT Top
Country Music Station in Texas
FORT WORTH, TX (Sunday, November 9, 2025) – For Texas Country
Music fans from across the region, the Fort Worth Stockyards was the
place to be as the Texas Country Music Association hosted the
spectacular 2025 Texas Country Music Awards at Billy Bob’s Texas.
According to TCMA President and Founder Linda Wilson, this marked the
event’s ninth year celebrating how the Texas Country Music industry has
flourished and continues to expand.
The top fan-voted awards were presented across twenty-eight categories celebrating both Texas Country
Music and Christian Country Music, with 98.5 KRXT being selected as the Top Country Station in Texas in
its inaugural year of ownership by the Cowboy Broadcasting Network.“We are extremely honored and
grateful for being in the Top 5 for Station of the Year. When KRXT was announced as the winner, it was a
milestone moment for our entire team,” remarked Steve Laukhuf, CEO and co-owner, along with his
partner Jim Schwertner. “To be honored by our peers with such an award is truly a pinnacle moment in
my career. We’ve created something special. At a time when radio is struggling, what we’re building is a
hyper-local approach to serving all the communities in our listening area. And with streaming technology,
we’re reaching far beyond our own backyard to connect with audio consumers.”
This award recognizes that local radio is not a lost medium. With programming that is both local and live,
KRXT does more than play great music. The station is part of the community, with more than forty local
voices heard each week in the studio. The format reflects the area’s agricultural roots and includes Polka
and Tejano music hosted by Texas Radio Hall of Fame member Roney Castor, local high school sports,
Fighting Texas Aggie Football, and faith-based programming on Sundays. Locally produced shows such
as Hometown Highlights, The Dale Watson Show, and the all-request and dedication program Cryin’,
Lovin’ or Leavin’ with Kenny Schneebeli offer something for everyone to enjoy.
“When our Program Director, Deena Blake, and I set out to build the station, we wanted something that
spoke to our rural audience—a station with heart,” said Laukhuf. “Our goal was to reintroduce radio to a
new demographic that didn’t just want a jukebox, but something with a heartbeat—something relatable
and enjoyable for the entire family.”
98.5 KRXT, owned and operated by the Cowboy Broadcasting Network LLC, is The Heartbeat of Milam,
Lee, and Williamson Counties.
