Nestled in downtown Taylor at 423 North Main Street, Karch Music has quietly become a vital part of the local arts and culture scene, and not just as a retail shop. Karch Music & Skate Shop combines musical commerce and community presence in downtown Taylor.
The driving force behind the store is Clay Karch, a lifelong musician who played bass for about ten years with country artist Kevin Fowler. During his time on the road, he was recognized as “Bassist of the Year” by the Austin Chronicle.
Clay has expressed pride in Taylor’s growing art and music scene and hopes the store helps nurture that. One anecdote he shares: a pair of musicians visited the shop and later learned they were Ben and Noel Haggard, sons of Merle Haggard.
