SECOND NEW PROGRAM TO HELP LOCAL BUSINESSES IN TAYLOR, TEXAS

Taylor, Texas, December 2024- The Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) has announced another new program, UPSKILL TAYLOR, which will help local businesses, and their employees pay for training for employees to learn new skills that will help employees, and the companany grow in Taylor. One of the main goals of the UPSKILL TAYLOR Program is to increase the skill level and wages of the Taylor Workforce.

The UPSKILL TAYLOR program is a matching reimbursement grant of up to $25,000.00 per calendar year for businesses that partner with a community college, technical college, or other accredited training organization to train their current or new employees. The TEDC has budgeted $200,000.00 for this program.

Businesses that apply for the grant must be in the City of Taylor, must be up to date on all municipal taxes, must not have any liens filed against the property, and must comply with all State and City laws and regulations.

"The TEDC understands that enhancing skills of our local workforce is vital to growing our economy. This program demonstrates our desire to partner with local businesses to help their employees improve and learn new skills," said Betty Day, TEDC Chairperson.

ABOUT TEDC

TEDC is a Type A, 4A non-profit corporation founded by the Taylor voters in 1994. TEDC is funded by one-half percent of the annual sales tax from the City of Taylor and is a separate entity from the City of Taylor with a separate staff and budget. The organization is quasi-governmental, subject to open-records and open meetings laws with two exceptions for economic development and is treated by the State of Texas as a private, non-profit entity.
