DATACENTER DEVELOPMENT PLANNED FOR TAYLOR, TEXAS

Taylor, Texas, June 2024 – The City of Taylor and the Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) reached an agreement with the BPP Projects, LLC, to build a datacenter in Taylor.

The agreement is in accordance with BPP Projects commitment to a minimum capital investment of $225,000,000 and the creation of a minimum of 5 jobs. The construction of the datacenter will be done over three phases.  BPP Projects also agrees to maintain a deliver and well represented workforce, work with its local employment recuring agency to enhance recruiting of potential minority job applicants and residents of the City, and conduct and hold one or more job recruiting fairs for new hires for the Project and work with the Texas Workforce Commission to assist in recruitment and hiring of individuals who reside in or who are representative of the City of Taylor, and join the Taylor Chamber of Commerce. In return, the City will grant a ten-year, 50 percent tax rebatement for each phase of construction including the tangible property inside the datacenter. 

BPP Projects also entered a “Separated Contracts” 380 Agreements with the City of Taylor and the TEDC.BPP Projects will receive a rebate of 50 percent of the local use tax collected on the materials used for construction. It is expected that over $1 Billion of capital expenditure will occur with this project over the next ten years. “The BPP Datacenter project is a tremendous step in the TEDC’s goal to diversify the local economy. Projects like these grow our local tax base and are a huge win for the City, County and School District,” said Betty Day, TEDC Chairperson.
