Current Public & Private Projects

By the end of 2010, more than $100 million of private and public capital improvement projects were started, underway, or had recently finished in Taylor. Current projects underway include:

Taylor High School

Taylor EDC salutes our future workforce and we congratulate Taylor High School on your new home.
Taylor High School is located off FM 973 just south of Taylor.
The new $32.5 million high school was built for 1200 students, the classrooms, including the culinary arts room, are filled with top-of-the-line teaching tools.
"It'll be an edge that students at Taylor High School have that some other schools around may not have," superintendent Jerry Vaughn said. Taylor ISD

Taylor Regional Park & Sports Complex

Taylor Regional Park & Sports Complex Opened in March 2010 as a tournament-grade facility including state-of-the art recreation facility and nature preserve, located on the southern end of the Blackland Prairie Ecological Region of Texas. It is simply magnificent. More than 70,000 visitors have come to Taylor to use the facilities this past year.

CARTS Bus Depot and Small Freight Center

CARTS (the Capital Area Rural Transportation System) completed construction on their new "green" bus depot and small freight center. The facility in Taylor will connect an extensive bus route with 10-counties.

High Pressure Plane Water System

The City of Taylor added a High Pressure Plane Water System expansion adding more than 5 MGD available capacity to the City of Taylor water system including a two new water towers, water pump station, and more than three miles of expanded, high-volume water mains.

ERCOT Data Center

ERCOT (the Electric Reliability Council of Texas) Added a new $20 million Data Center. This is ERCOT's third local expansion since 2003. As Taylor's largest employer, ERCOT now has 150,000 SF of facilities in Taylor for the state electric grid management.

75-unit Affordable Senior Housing

Indiana-based Herman & Kittle properties has been awarded affordable housing tax credits from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to build Main Street Commons, a 75-unit affordable housing development for seniors in Taylor.
